Civilian

Description

The Civilian. Also known as Commoners and Peasants, these individuals are the backbone of society in Faerun. Working as farmers, merchants, smiths, and more, they feature no strong aptitude for combat and rely on the exceptional and capable to save the day.

Dev Notes:
  • Civilians are considered a hardcore class to play. They roll for permadeath both for PvP and PvE deaths. While this class is designed to avoid combat entirely, there is significant risk in a rabid deer deciding that it's time for a Civilian to meet their end. Tread lightly.
  • Many endeavors and professions that Civilians pursue may demand an increased level of DM involvement than an adventurer PC does, due to them rarely leaving their relatively safe urban confines. It is advised that, if a player has a career path in mind for a potential Civilian character, they should consult the staff before pursuing that path so that the team is aware of any needs such a character may have and can judge whether or not it will be realistically possible for DMs to support them.
  • Please keep in mind that, especially around launch, DM time and attention for each individual will be exceptionally limited, so it is appreciated for players to be mindful and understanding when pitching ideas to staff. While everyone would love to see creative and innovative Civilian PCs, the majority of the work to build a successful career, business, or any other pursuit, will come down to committed roleplay from the player. DMs will happily support you where possible, but they will not hold your hand. It is an unrealistic expectation to have DMs consistently supporting you on your terms rather than theirs, so please take this into account when considering concepts.
