Description
Standing at 135cm in height, this dark haired dwarf is about the average height for his kind, he is fairly broad shouldered and has strong looking arms. While he is not quite as burly as a warrior dwarf would be, his physique is still impressive as his abdomen is flat and even shows some rough outlines of abs. In general it can be said that he has quite a bit less body fat than the average dwarf. He has long, black hair that is usually bound into a ponytail, but he sometimes wears it in other styles as well. His beard is long enough to reach well below his chest and he usually has some braids in it. Intense, hazel green eyes are set deep within his skull, so that his strong brow ridge casts a shadow over them. Beldrus seems to have traits of both gold and shield dwarves, as black hair is rare for shield dwarves, but fair skin is rare for gold dwarves. Someone with little knowledge of dwarves would not notice that of course, but other dwarves might.
His clothes are usually expensive looking, he prefers silk, rare leather and even more rare furs, preferably colored white, black and golden. A lot of rings can be seen on his fingers and more often than not, he has a necklace or amulet around his neck. All of that makes him look a bit ostentatious. Being a connoisseur of tobacco and pipeweed, he is often seen smoking a cigar or a pipe.
While out in the wilds, or on a mission, his style changes drastically, usually wearing a dark chain shirt, sometimes with a coat over it, although he doesn’t mind wearing other armor. Most of the time, he wields a heavy crossbow and has a hammer or axe as a backup weapon, with a shield strapped to his back.

Disposition and Nature
While Beldrus may be greedy and ostentatious, he is also very caring and selfless towards his friends. Typical for a dwarf, it can be hard to become his friend if one is not a dwarf, however, he seems to be more open towards humans and elves than most other dwarves are. The easiest way to become his friend is fighting at his side or helping him make a profit. In battle, he prefers to fight at range and he shows a surprising amount of agility for a dwarf, but that is not the only thing that might surprise his traveling companions.
Aside from his love for money he is also very passionate about science, more specifically about physics and engineering, which is why he often gets along very well with tinkerers and engineers. His Crossbow was built by himself and uses a complex sighting system that is adjustable and if one should ask him about it, he will be happy to spend hours explaining it and how he came up with it.
Some dwarves, especially the more conservative ones, may look at him strangely, as he is not only more open to other races than most dwarves are, but he is also well traveled and interested in learning about other cultures. People who get to know him well, will learn that he is deeply devoted to dwarvenkind as a whole and his tolerance of other cultures comes from the fact that he believes in Moradin’s efforts in bringing the stout folk closer to mankind and elvenkind. But this is not just a religious matter for him, he is fully aware of the decline of the shield dwarves and he believes the same could happen to the gold dwarves if they don’t loosen up their isolationist policies and start making allies. That said, he absolutely detests the taste of human, or gods forbid, elven wine and he will refuse to drink any, even if given to him for free. Beer brewed by humans can be tolerated by Beldurs, but he will still complain about the insipid taste, which is why he is often carrying dwarven beer with him wherever he goes, including into battle.
His strange decision making can appear questionable sometimes, even to his friends, but more often than not it’s the result of his ability to smell a profit where others may not. This can become even more confounding when all of a sudden he acts completely selfless or refuses a reward. Sometimes he likes to explain his behavior with a motto: “Gold is valuable, shame is eternal, an insult to your honor is almost as bad as being out of beer.” It can be hard to discern if he says that jokingly, or if he means it, either way, he is an eccentric dwarf with a nose for profit, but a heart in the right place.
