Patron Spirits

This is not an exclusive list and it may not be known just how many patron spirits there are.

Shaman is a complex class that blends nature, spirits, and religion. While deities do not directly grant power to shamans, they are a religious class that takes the place of clerics in many wild or tribal settings and are thus held to alignment restrictions of a religion's clergy and only available to religions that support them.

Shamans do not choose patron spirits to directly serve. Instead, shamans indirectly serve these patrons by petitioning the spirits who serve the patrons for the knowledge required for their divine magics to function and then using those spells in ways that the patron would approve of. In-game this is a very vague process that can be detailed or not depending on each player/character. While Patron Spirits generally prefer to only aid those with similar alignments, a shaman may choose to petition Patron Spirits of other alignments (as many people pray to various gods for any number of reasons). While Patron Spirits have little recourse in how a shaman uses the magic they're given, the shaman's deity is aware, and a shaman who diverts from their alignment or deity's dogma too much should expect to be punished.
