Elwan Undermoon

Born around 25 cycles ago on the road between Memnon and Calimport, Elwan is still fairly young for a hin, and might look even a bit younger than that. He is just slightly above average height of his people, has dark wavy hair, hazel eyes, and a lean but somewhat athletic build. His clothes are simple and not in the best condition, but maintains them well diligently.

He was raised by a loving family, together with his older sister and his younger brother, in the environment of his caravan and its seven clans. Most of his youth was spent around Calimport. Only rarely did they travel towards festivals around Purskul in Tethyr; the route through the desert was difficult and dangerous, and both for fear of robbers and lack of silver to invest, their caravan did not transport many goods unlike human trade caravans, so it was hardly worth the effort -- other than for meeting more kin and trading stories and gossip.

Not many clans were brave enough to travel in Calimshan, for fear of ending up in slaving chains after angering the wrong people. The elders of his caravan however were apt in navigating the entangled politics of Calimport's various sabbans, and kept the clans in check to "work hard and claim the fruits of honest labor" (and to not reappropriate as much as other clans might, let's be honest here).

Elwan dabbled in various crafts, such as woodworking, animal herding, even for a while searching for the rare herbs of the desert. He performed decently at most of these tasks, but most of all he enjoyed playing his lute. Not for the other halfings, not even for his siblings. He got along well enough with everybody, but he never had many friends and hated to stand in the center of everybody's attention. He didn't mind if somebody listened, but he played for himself.

This all suddenly changed at a single day, about two cycles ago. For the caravan, the day started like any other, with the sun rising over their small encampment at the outskirts of Calimport. However, this was the day where Elwan left. He played with the thought of this every now and then since he started his apprenticeships; it was not rare for a hin to leave his clan and community for a while and explore the world of the big folk, and so nobody was overly surprised.

It didn't take much time for him to pack what he needed and would call his from now on, and soon he was on his way towards the north. He already knew the road to Purskul, so he decided to explore the Tethyr's hinterland, traveling through Saradush and Riatavin up to Lake Esmel, but not staying anywhere for long. His wanderlust is now driving him towards the Sea of Swords, so it might be the right time to explore Murann...

Portrait generated with NightCafé and manually refined; his hair is usually more wavy than curly, but curling irons exist, I'd wager
