Franik Reynaldo, born in 1321 DR in Athkatla, Amn, has a lengthy criminal history beginning with his involvement with a pickpocket gang called the Forty Thieves when he was still a child. His father, Gene Reynaldo, was a mildly successful butcher who taught Franik the trade between drunken beatings. A known gambler and heavy drinker from an early age, Franik lived a life of vice.

After his father's murder when Franik was 16, he quickly sold off the butchery at a large loss to fund his purchase of equipment needed to become a mercenary. He left the city to avoid further investigation into his father's murder, for which he was the chief suspect. He joined a mercenary company but spent more time perfecting his criminal arts than fighting. His career ended when he was found looting a village instead of fighting during a battle somewhere in Tethyr, leading to his dishonorable discharge.

Upon arriving in Murann in 1352, Franik quickly integrated himself with the local street gangs operating in the notorious Crimson Row neighborhood. He quickly built a reputation as a dirty fighter and skilled knife wielder which earned him a place among the enforcers and petty criminals who controlled the area. His familiarity with underhanded tactics and violent confrontations have made him a valuable asset to the gangs. Franik is well-known as a notoriously dirty fighter, not averse to biting off noses, gouging out eyeballs, or beating a man to jelly. He often fights in illegal bare-knuckle boxing matches and is rumored to be a skilled knife fighter, a result of his profession as a butcher.

Franik remains an active and unrepentant criminal. Despite numerous arrests, he has evaded long-term incarceration through bribery, intimidation, and underworld connections. He is somewhat of a known figure in Murann’s criminal underbelly, continuing his unlawful activities unabated.
