Gil was the second child to Llorenç and Belén Orvaño. A few years junior to his brother, he grew up in a household where he was raised to accept his brother’s pointed ears, and in his early childhood, caused more than a few problems with his louder, more aggressive approach against injustices. However, the wisdom of his family tempered him, and while there is an edge to him that is well aware of injustices, his approach has changed, and he has learned the meaning and importance of law, learning to better balance his attitudes.
Growing up, he tended largely to the animals on the farm and prospered alongside a few generations of sheepdogs. His family were devout Chaunteans, and Gil was no different. He embraced the Grain Goddess’ forgiving and nurturing nature, applying it throughout his life. He was no stranger to either work in the fields or with the mushrooms or fruits grown on and around the land they worked, much like his elder brother, Tavi. Llorenç taught Gil to hunt with a crossbow, usually taking apart tracks, maintaining population levels of local fauna, and tending to any injured wildlife – be it to end their lives mercifully, or to help heal them so that they may go on their way to live.
Gil was not drawn to performances in the same way his brother was but did learn he would often speak for him. In fact, he even suggested they had the same hairstyle so that Tavi may feel more at home and would face less scrutiny if his brother (even if technically half) if Gil himself showed off his ears, and Tavi’s remained out of sight. When the opportunity came to try and carve out a life in Murann turned up, Gil agreed to go along with his brother and see what fate held in store for them.
