Young directionless, young Luther was bitter and full of anger at his lot in life, as it was more or less days of poor paying work and brawls to the next. No family, no real friends, just one of the countless people struggling to make it from one day to another.
One of those long days, while he was getting what rest he could in an alleyway, he was approached by a man, one who hadn’t come with knives or to vent their frustrations but as just a companion to talk with. Over time the man would come again and the pair talked, with the robed man casting aside his clean and carefully tailored clothing to sit in the muck and filth with him.

This was a member of the sun soul, who slowly taught Luther the ways of things outside of his life.

Of the grace and beauty of the world, of the different gods, Lathander, Selûne and Sune
The guidance of the sun, the grace of the moon and the beauty of the stars. He shared food and stories, gave advice, introduced him to people who wouldn’t just take advantage of him. Over time the man shared bits of his life, his misspent youth, of his reason being here, that his work was around the poor, sick and needy and that Luther was one of them he sought to help.

Poor in wealth
Sick in the soul
Need of direction

That he was a monk and it was his duty to do what good he could and try and guide those onto paths that didn’t lead into darkness. That he thought that Luther could find purpose as much as the monk himself did.
For Luther this was the opportunity to be more than one of the countless half-orcs who had fallen to their vices, one that after months of coaching he did.

He was admitted into a monastery and slowly came to learn their teachings, on how to conduction oneself, on philosophy and what it means to follow their faith. The young man found comfort in the temple that he was a part of, that being here was something that gave purpose to his otherwise meandering days.

But he never forgot
The struggles he had before he was found, the plight that would have befallen him if it wasn’t for the hand offered to him, what it meant to be lost without even realising it

So he wanted to leave and do something.

Once he finished his training and took his vows he left a full year after.
Showing what a man can be, no matter their origins, to share what he was freely given to him when he needed it.

He wants to be the person he needed

Being physically adept he wants to serve as on of the arms of the order, he wants to go into dark places and pull people into the light, to be a hand offered in earnest not one in anger.
